Day One
Sunday 06th Aug : Arbaminch – Konso – Arbore – Turm
Starting off from Arbaminch at 7:30AM, you will be visiting Konso tribal villages at Konso and the scenic Weito lowlands. Further ahead, you will also be able to visit an Arbore tribal village settled infront of Lake Stephanie. Arriving Turmi late afternoon, you will be spending overnight at Buska Lodge / Turmi Lodge or optionally camping overnight at Buska Campsite / Keske Campsite.
Day Two
Monday : Turmi – Korcho – *Turmi /*MARKET VISIT/
At 7:30AM, you will be heading to Korcho, home to the Kara tribe. Here, you will be visiting Korcho village where you will be able to see the different aspects of the Kara tribe. Settled on the banks of the Omo River, you will also be able to see the Omo River winding down South into Lake Turkana of North Kenya. Returning back to Turmi at noon, you will be visiting the weekly Hamer tribal market. Late afternoon, you will also be able to visit a Hamer village in the surroundings of Turmi. End of the day, you will be spending overnight at Buska Lodge / Turmi Lodge or optionally camping overnight at Buska Campsite / Keske Campsite.
*During your nights in Turmi, you may come across the possibility to see a bull-jumping ceremony. In such a case through consultation with your driver, your itinerary may be slightly altered to allow you to visit this ceremony.
Day Three
Tuesday : Turmi – Omorate – *Alduba – Jinka /*MARKET VISIT/
At 7:30AM, you will be heading to Omorate, home to the Dassanach tribe. Settled on the banks of the Omo River, you will be crossing the Omo River to visit a Dassanach village. The Dassanach are said to be descendants and related to the Turkana tribe of North Kenya. Returning back to Turmi at noon, you will be proceeding to Jinka, en route visiting the Alduba market that attracts the Hamer and Bena tribes. Proceeding further and arriving Jinka late afternoon, you will be spending overnight at Eco-Omo Lodge / Orit Hotel / Eyob Guest House.
Day Four
Wednesday : Jinka – Mago National Park – Jinka
At 7:30AM, you will be heading into Mago National Park. En route to Mursi tribal villages in the Park, you will be able to see the scenic Mago lowlands as well as a bit of wild life – Dik Diks, Greater and Lesser Kudus etc. Arriving at Mursi tribal villages, you will be able to see their farm fields, huts and general life style. Returning back to Jinka shortly after lunch time, you will be visiting Ari tribal villages in the surroundings of Jinka. End of the day, you will be spending overnight at Eco-Omo Lodge / Orit Hotel / Eyob Guest House.
Day Five
Thursday : Jinka – *Key Afer – Arbaminch /*MARKET VISIT/
At 8:30AM, you will be visiting the South Omo Research Center which will give you a good insight into the various tribes of the Lower Omo Valley. Mid-morning, you will be visiting Omo Child Center an NGO that cares for Mingi children of the Kara and Hamer tribes. Shortly before noon, you will be proceeding to Arbaminch. En route at Key Afer, you will be able to visit the weekly Bena tribal market where you will be able to visit the Bena tribe and neighboring tribes as the Hamer from Alduba, Tsemai from Weito and Ari from Kako. Proceeding further to Arbaminch, you will have a brief visit to a Tsemai tribe village settled in the lowlands of the Weito Valley. Driving further, you will be arriving Arbaminch late afternoon, spending overnight at Paradise Lodge / Tourist Hotel / Forty Springs Hotel and thereby ending your 5 days tour of the Lower Omo Valley.
